Before assuming the post of state secretary, he was employed by the European Parliament as assistant to Ivo Vajgl, Member of the European Parliament.

For years he has been instrumental in starting and launching several social enterprises, worker cooperatives and several other initiatives of social entrepreneurships in Slovenia. He collaborated in the preparation of the national Strategy for the Development of Social Entrepreneurship 2013-16 and the plan for its execution. He is the founder and secretary general of the internationally operating Slovenian Forum of Social Entrepreneurship. He also follows the development of various initiatives in the field of youth entrepreneurship and other vulnerable social groups.

Between 2009 and 2012 he served as Deputy in the Slovenian National Assembly contributing to the creation of the Social Entrepreneurship Act. Between 2004 and 2009 he worked as director of The Dravinjska Valley Youth Center, between 200 and 2004 he held the position of secretary in the National Assembly Deputy Group. Between 2002 and 2006 he was a member of the Management Committee of the Fund for the Decommissioning of the Krško Nuclear Power Plant. Between 1998 and 2013 he was also the member of the Slovenske Konjice Municipal Council.
